Vicious Promotions stablemates breeze past veteran opposition
Colwyn Bay’s Gerome Warburton fought and won for the first time since being crowned Welsh middleweight champion, outpointing Londoner Jordan Grannum in a non-title bout at Bolton Stadium.
On the same card, Ruthin light-middleweight Sion Yaxley thrashed Manchester’s Scott Williams in two rounds to extend his undefeated record to 11 contests.
Warburton breezed to a decision victory over Grannum, a veteran of more than 100 professional bouts, winning all four rounds for a 40-36 margin.
‘The Breadmaker’ is now 11-1-1 and secured his Welsh title in May by beating Morgan Jones in Swansea.
Warburton said on Sunday: “Boxed a very strong opponent yesterday and felt like everything I’ve been working on was put display – but there’s plenty more to come from The Breadmaker!”
Yaxley, who is signed to the same Vicious Promotions who also handle Warburton and who staged this Vicious 4.0 event on Saturday night, will be hoping to follow his stablemate to championship glory soon.
He is now 11-0 after crushing Williams, who was taking part in his 23rd contest, at 2:34 of the second round..
“It was good to be back in the ring and throwing some leather and getting the W for Emmi,” said Yaxley, referring to his three-month-old daughter.
“I’ve a long path of learning in front of me but huge improvements already been made … Also massive thanks to everyone who came to support me – the support was unreal as always and appreciated people who have spent their hard-earned money to watch me fight.”
