About With the popularity of western boxing surging in Thailand, a new promotion is looking to bridge the gap between the amateur ranks and the professional code and increase the standard of the kingdom’s competitors.

Most of Thailand’s pro boxers transition from the national martial art of muay Thai. While this instils in them tremendous fitness and aggressive competitiveness, it often leaves them a step behind international professionals who have benefitted from coming through a formal amateur western boxing programme.

Thailand Boxing Championship (TBC) seeks to address this deficit, as well as capitalise on the country’s booming expat boxing scene. What was once an occasional “white collar” affair has grown into a vibrant, busy competitive circuit involving boxers from around the world.

TBC now aims to offer both local boxers and resident foreigners a legitimate pathway to the pros with events and bouts open to the most talented examples of both groups, who will be matched fairly in a “pro style” format of longer bouts with smaller gloves and qualified officials.
