Bio Paul Peers made history on the night of September 17, 2022, when he fired in a left hook that separated Samuel Akrogo from his senses and delivered two world title belts to the Orkney-based Liverpudlian.
The third-round KO and the WBU and PBC welterweight championships that came with it was even more rewarding for Peers, given the tough route to glory that he had taken.
Previously, he had shared a ring with greatness in 2020, and while Peers may not have got the result he wanted against Scott Harrison, it gave him a taste of the big time – and he hasn’t looked back since.
Harrison won, but only after Peers raced to an early lead and showed he could hold his own in elite class. Having taken nothing but positives from the experience, Peers rebuilt in fine style and can now call himself a world champion too.
Accolades WBU World champion, PBC World champion, WBL European champion; EBL European champion; PBC International champion; PBC English Silver champion
