Bio Mamareza Hamze immediately generated headlines upon his pro boxing debut.
While most newcomers to the paid code of the sport are eased in with four- or six-rounders against modest opposition, Hamze was thrown immediately into a 12-round title fight against an experienced former world champion.
Sirimongkol Singwancha boasted a formidable 65-2 record at the time, and yet the plucky novice Hamze pushed him hard for all 12 rounds. It would set the stage for an eventful pro career of his own, as Hamze competed across Asia, often as the underdog but never as an easy touch.
He has contested three Asian championships and fought 21 times, all the way from welterweight to heavyweight.
Now, Hamze has relocated to his native Iran and is looking for opportunities to box there or elsewhere in the Middle East.
